Fatwa 2
Question: I am 20 years old and have only just begun praying five times a day. I have not been praying for the previous 6 years since attaining puberty. Do I have to make up all of those missed prayers? I would be very much like it if I could repent to Allah and concentrate on performing prayer regularly from now on, rather than worrying about those years of missed prayer. Answered by Sheikh Salman al-Oadah I hold the opinion that the missed prayers over a long stretch of time cannot be made up. You have to repent to Allah with the sincere intention not to miss prayers again, and you must start performing your prayers on time from now on. It is highly recommended that you increase your voluntary prayers, particularly the night prayer. And Allah knows best. |
